Guide to visit Santander and discover all its charm
We are half an hour drive from Santander. There is another possibility of going by public transport from near Las Cinco Calderas and is going to Santander by boat, as do many of the locals who live in the area and go to the city in this mean of transport. It is a wonderful experience to move in a different way that allows us to enjoy the Cantabrian Sea and the views of the entire bay of Santander.

¿WHAT TO VISIT IN SANTANDER TO ENJOY THE CHARM OF THIS CITY?
The capital of Cantabria offers a wide variety of options in terms of tourism possibilities and mixes several aspects that make the city an ideal place to enjoy monuments, nature, gastronomy, sights and the sea. It is a small town, so it is manageable and you can walk perfectly.
Magdalena peninsula
It is the emblem and probably the most significant place of the city, presided by the elegant Palace of the Magdalena. This space can be traversed on foot or in a little train that makes a guided tour. If you go with the children they will have a great time, since there is a leisure area for them and a small zoo with marine animals.
From the whole peninsula and especially from the part of the Magdalena Palace you can enjoy spectacular views of the entire Bay of Santander and the city.
Botín cultural center
This new architectural jewel of the city of Santander, is an art center designed by the architect and Pritzker Prize, Renzo Piano.
It is located on the sea, without touching land, suspended on pillars and columns. The building is visitable and inside you can discover both the architecture of this elegant building, and see some of the exhibitions that are in the center.
Museums and cultural offer
As for cultural offer you can visit the Museum of Prehistory and Archeology of Cantabria, which reviews the history of our species in a didactic way, hosting an excellent collection of rock art with pieces of great value.
Another museum to highlight is the Maritime Museum of Cantabrico, where you can learn about the maritime tradition of Santander and Cantabria. It also has an aquarium with marine species typical of the Cantabrian Sea.
These two museums are recommended for both adults and children and is a perfect choice for rainy days.
Sardinero walk
It is one of the most popular areas of Santander.
This beautiful promenade runs through much of the city close to the Sardinero Beach, enjoying the views of the sea, the bay, the Palace of the Magdalena, stopping to observe the grandiose building of the Casino de Santander and making a stop at the way in one of its numerous bars or restaurants to enjoy the gastronomy of the north.
The center of Santander
In the center, very close and continuous to the aforementioned of Puerto Chico, we can find the Town Hall Square, the Cathedral of Santander or the majestic building of the Bank of Santander.
There are numerous restaurants, wineries and tapas bars that are also found in this area, as well as being a nightlife spot.
Puerto Chico
The area of the port of Santander is another of the most acclimated areas and preferred by tourists as well as locals to stroll.
The magnificent views, the elegant Paseo de Pereda that reaches the Gardens of Pereda and the tapas bars of the surroundings are more than enough reasons not to miss one of the most beautiful areas of the city.
Beaches in Santander
In Santander itself we have beaches such as El Sardinero, El Camello Beach on the Magdalena Peninsula or Mataleñas Beach in the lighthouse area.
